Teacher BIOs-

Resident Nick Votto- I began my yoga journey after helping my neighbor remodel her Bikram Yoga Studio’s front sign in desk and retail area. When I finished the project I took an evening class and found one of the best nights sleep I had in a longtime. Waking up feeling very refreshed I went for a surf and felt a whole new connection to my board and even surprised myself pulling off maneuvers I hadn’t finished since my younger years. After getting out of the water my lifeguard friend was complimentary about my surf and was asking what new board I was on to maybe explain the difference he saw in my surfing. I thought to myself, could it have been the yoga? No way 1 class could bring on that change but I kept going to class and both my physical and mental health kept improving day after day with each class. 4 months later I found myself at Teacher Training in Las Vegas where I spent the next 9 weeks hearing and seeing stories of transformation that just reaffirmed what I already saw in myself which only heightened, my desire to bring this healing to others. Once back from Teacher Training I realized I hit the yoga lottery being able to take class with the great Emmy Cleaves. Emmy was Bikram’s Principle teacher that drew students from around the world to practice with her and she was right in my backyard. I followed her around like a love sick puppy dog and because she was an animal lover, she took me under her wing. The nearly decade studying with Emmy changed my yoga practice and my teaching profoundly and made me a better person in and out of the yoga room. It is now my duty to pass on her wealth of knowledge and experience to help people discover the healing power we all possess through a regular yoga practice.@elportoyogi

Nick will lead Hatha classes.

Qi & Tea with Amber Gamboa, 8246620

Quarterly seasonal class hours, Summer 6-7/Equinox/Winter 5-6

Qi Gong translates to refined energy practice, the leading and guiding (Dao Yin) of Qi through ancient form and Conscious flow of dynamic movement synced in harmony with Daoist breathing techniques to activate meridian pathways in correlation with the associated organs.
There is much more depth in regards to the 5 element Classical Chinese Medicine Wheel & 8 trigram is the Internal Energy map or Bagua of our Zang Fu (organs) , the decoded healing wisdom of rebalancing ever changing change, from the book of change ; the I Ching 1122 b.c

About Me: I am Amber, a Kung fu au natural mama of 2 & certified Qï Gong Instructor. I began my Martial Arts journey 33 years ago when I was just 3.5 yrs and I received a black belt in Tae Kwon Do at 11. I was very dedicated to my practice as a child but it no longer aligned as I grew out of the competition as I learned there was much more in life to slay.
In Qï Gong, form is essential to the practice but martial Karate/ Kung fu is an exertion of physical Energy where as Qï Gong is a mindful martial art for the conscious warrior to cultivate Qï for longevity, vitality and to rebalance the Yin & Yang within.
What illuminates me most to share Qï & Tea is to be service to the our amazing plant tribe and also to assist in awakening of introspective awareness, where we learn to heal our own body, mind and spirit and evolve into a healthier humanity.
